Over the past year, I had the opportunity to work as a paid intern at Church Newsroom for the Church of Jesus Christ, where I gained hands-on experience in both journalism and digital content management.

 

My core responsibilities included selecting articles for syndication from our network of affiliated newsrooms around the world. This required a discerning editorial eye, a sensitivity to diverse audiences, and a strong understanding of the organization's mission and messaging. I also wrote and produced original written articles and updates, helping to ensure that our content remained timely, engaging, and aligned with broader communication goals.

Beyond writing and editorial duties, I was responsible for uploading and organizing images and articles on our website, which involved regular coordination with content creators, photo teams, and web administrators. For a three-month period, I temporarily filled in for our administrative assistant during her maternity leave, taking on scheduling, office coordination, and supporting leadership communications—an experience that strengthened my organizational skills and adaptability under pressure.

Throughout my internship, I worked closely with Spanish-language newsroom managers across various regions, helping coordinate content and maintain consistency in our international reporting. I also assisted other team members with special projects and daily workflows, contributing wherever needed to support the overall mission of the newsroom. This experience deepened my appreciation for collaborative work, cross-cultural communication, and the essential role of faith-based journalism in informing and uplifting communities.
